One two-month journey circling the Australian Coast is being halted following the death of an older woman who was stranded by the cruise liner on a isolated tropical isle.

The passenger had been trekking on Lizard Island with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the party for a break. The vessel left without her and came back after some time after the crew realised the woman was unaccounted for.

An extensive hunt located her remains the following day.

Authorities are investigating the tragedy, in coordination with police and the official investigator.

The CEO of the cruise operator stated that travelers and staff on the vessel were notified that the continuation of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "tragic passing and prior engine troubles".
